TUSCANY

Firenzebynight TEST

Tuscany: a region with many facets, with its famous beaches of Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio and, all around, looking out onto the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Versilia. A few kilometres from this natural stage made of lively and exuberant lifestyles, there are the Apuan Alps, with their silence and their small villages curled up under the slope of the mountains peaks covered with snow.

And then the Tuscany of hills, of the small and roundish upland plains, the Tuscany of the wonderful sunflowers, the deep green of crops, of farms, the smell of genuine and simple dishes. Or the Tuscany of towns, stars in the sky of the Italian history, with their important inhabitants and their work of arts, unique in the world.

For instance, let’s talk about Florence: from Botticelli’s Venus to the Dukes of Urbino of Piero della Francesca, from Leonardo’s Annunciation to Raffaello’s Madonnas, from Della Robbia’s pictured earthenware to Michelangelo’s and Donatello’s marbles; the masterpieces of our Renaissance are there. A concentration of art that from Florence winds along a number of attractive places that keep the masterpieces of the Art and the Faith, a comprehensive reality featuring a common denominator that is the historical mirror of the region: the identity of Tuscany.

Pisa, and its Miracles Square – gathering four of the most famous monuments in the world – the bright marble of the cathedral, that became a model for the Roman churches throughout the whole region, with its long blind arches and its famous leaning tower.

Siena, whose cathedral is one of the most beautiful churches in the Roman-Gothic style in Italy and has a unique marble floor made of fifty-six squares that portray mystic characters or scenes taken from the Old Testament. You must not miss San Giminiano (Siena) with its towers that stand out against the hills of Valdelsa not far from Volterra and also the Maremma around Grosseto with its coastal resorts dedicated to Neptune, its lakes, lagoons, fortifications and lookout towers. And Maremma also means horses, the very famous horses from Maremma that can gallop free in an amazing natural environment. Then, the islands, from Elba to Giglio, Capraia, Montescristo, Pianosa and Gorgona. Finally, the Tuscany of Baths, a very attractive destination for the ones who search for the physical and psychological well-being.
